Best value bike of 2019
The bike rides as well as a 1200 pound mountain bike I had , I’m very impressed with it. Value for money , with excellent group set . Been out several times , the ride is smooth and precise, and accurate off road , looks the part , I’m very pleased, with out a doubt possibly the best bike in it’s class.
I bought one of these in May 2017. This is not a mountain bike, and should not be bought with the expectation of doing any mountain bike riding. It's a touring bike with a suspension fork. After 4 months of riding XC trails once or twice per week (blue trails), the rear drive side chainstay has cracked on the inside, writing off the frame. The warranty does not apply in different countries (I moved since buying the bike), so I'm at a dead loss on the frame, and am moving the components to a new one. I will not buy another B'Twin mountain bike.
2 years ago, the restrictions for this frame included AM/Enduro and BMX. Since then, XC has been added. I'm taking that as an acknowledgement of the weakness of the frame. While this bike is OK for touring (within the weight limit) I'd suggest that you might be better off using a CX or gravel bike for that purpose, as it would be better for longer distances.
The staff in Decathlon Bory did an excellent job setting up the bike.
All parts on the bike are standard sizes, and so are easily upgradeable.
The Rock Shox fork is cheap but good-ish, and is easy to service, but is supplied with a medium spring. If you are outside the weight range for the spring (72-81kgs), then you may want to factor in an extra €30 for a replacement.
The SRAM gear shifters and drivetrain are very reliable.
I found the saddle comfortable.
The Hutchinson Cobra tyres are semi-slicks, meaning that they're fast on roads. They are hard, and so wear well, but easily lose grip in the damp. I came to expect the rear tyre to wash out when traversing the off-camber surface of roundabouts (thankfully the front never went).
Control of the bike on narrow trails is improved by installing a shorter stem and wider bars. I installed a 60mm stem and 760mm bars (along with new tyres), and it transformed the bike for the better.
I found the brakes to be OK. The caliper clearance is a little narrow for thicker brake rotors. A larger rotor can be installed using adapters - a 180mm rotor in the front should suit most riders. Since this is a 9mm QR, you will need to realign the caliper after you take the front wheel off, as it will otherwise squeal and you'll get uneven wear on the pads.
The wheels are reasonably strong, but very heavy. The bearings are sealed, and are reliable. You will need a spoke key, as they will go out of true. The freehub does not like the wet and dirt, and so will fail, but this is a cheap part to replace.
The frame itself would have good geometry for an XC mountain bike, and climbs very well, but is not suitable for riding off-road. The frame isn't strong enough. There's a 100kg weight limit for rider + gear + bike for all frame sizes; given that an XL bike is supposed to be good for up to a 2 meter tall rider, this can place a taller rider outside of the supported weight limit, while not being overweight. Smaller riders will find that carrying luggage can easily put them outside the supported range.
Thank you for your very detailed feedback regarding this bike. There is no reason at all why the frame has cracked. The weight limit is not linked to the frame but more to the wheels when put under load (as is the same with many brands) and is overly conservative. It is correct that the lifetime warranty is not transferable between countries (As stated in the terms and conditions) but if it's in the same custom zone, most countries are flexible to honour it. It is exceptionally uncommon for our frames to break therefore I would urge you to contact your local Decathlon store who will assist in getting you back on the road (or off road in your case).

Great bike but rubbish customer service, 1st bike came scratched on the top tube, the second bike had a scratch on the decal on the top tube. No PDI done before handing over a brand new bike to customers.
Great bike, handles trails with ease. Great solid gearing and incredibly comfortable and reliable.
One slight downside is saddle stem security, at suggested torque setting it'll sometimes slide but that's me being fussy
Love 560 and no regrets buying it. A few things I will modify/change in time. Increase Front brake disk size as it’s no overly powerful. Seat is not the comfiest. Just personal fine tuning of a very good competent bike really. If I was buying now I’d be torn between this and the new xc100 which is currently £50 more for a bit better spec and loses the B-Twin branding ( which is a plus in my opinion )
Wish I could have this bike looks SO good #dreambike
I bought this bike to go to work every day and to do some off road during the weekend.
It is one year that I am using this bike and I still trust it.
Robust design with nice features like adjustable height for the handlebar and the possibility to easily disable the suspension.
Easily upgradable, easy maintainable, I would totally recommend this product.
It's a great bike that won't empty your wallet. The suspension is very good and it is really easy to do trails, climb hills and send jumps. It is very light with excellent gears. I love it.
Bought this bike from the Coventry store ,, there mistake almost made me take the bike back and ask for a refund as I was under the belief that it had a air shock and the manager brought a pump to the checkout when I was paying for the bike ,, I hadn't asked for the pump but he suggested I might want one ,, so I paid for pump and bike 570 uk pounds ,, then next day while I looked for the air valve discovered it was a spring valve ,,being a manager and selling me the bike ,, thought he would have new more about the product he was selling ,, I think it is a good bike but was after one with an air shock and maybe should have bought the voodoo bazango its 30 quid cheaper gets great reviews and does have a air shock at the front
